Triton Project, 1 October workshop in Bari (Italy)

The workshop on coastal planning, organized by Puglia Region and ARTI in the framework of the Triton project, will take place on 1 October from 9.00 am to 1.00 pm in Bari, at Puglia Foundation, in via Venezia n.13. The initiative focuses on the theme of coastal management in Puglia and Greece, the areas affected by the project, with a specific focus on the presentation of the San Girolamo – Fesca waterfront case. The Municipality of Bari was selected as a model of best practice in the field of coastal planning, following the participation in the public notice launched by ARTI and the Puglia Region for the Triton project. This is the program of the morning’s interventions. 9.30-10.00 registration of participants and introduction to the work by: Paolo Spinelli – President of the Puglia Foundation; Vito Albino – President of ARTI; Giuseppe Pastore – Director of Internationalization of Puglia Region; Olga Giannakitsidou – Region of Western Greece. 10.00 – 10.30 am “Coastal planning and coastal erosion in Greece” with: Nikos Depountis, Konstantinos Nikolakopoulos, Elias Fakiris – University of Patras Menelao Chatziapostolidis – Efxini Poli; Yiannis Tsoukalidis and Kostas Zachopoulos – TRITON Advisory Board 10.30 am – 11.45 am “The Triton Project and coastal management in Puglia – focus on S. Girolamo – Fesca project” with: Nicolò Carnimeo – University of Bari; Giuseppe Galasso – Municipality of Bari Minister of Infrastructure, Public Works, Sustainable Mobility and Accessibility;  Giuseppe Tomasicchio – University of Salento; Giuseppe Forte – Puglia Region, Coastal and Port public property Section; Elisa Furlan – CMCC (Euro-Mediterranean Center on Climate Change) From 11.45 am to about 1.00 pm there will be a visit to the Waterfront of S. Girolamo – Fesca and press point with Giuseppe Galasso and Giuseppe Tomasicchio, the Greek partners and the students of the International Summer School “Sustainable management of coastal heritage and actions to mitigate coastal erosion”. The initiative is in fact the beginning of the Apulian session of the international Summer School, already started in Patras on 24, 25 and 26 September, which will continue on 2 and 3 October in Bari, with lessons addressed to students (between public officials and professionals) Italian and Greek who have been selected following participation in the relevant public notice.
